Character Descriptions

Curly McLain- A strong-headed and snarky cowboy. He is charming and confident. Although he is in love with Laurey, he refuses to admit it. (Tenor/Baritone, Dancer)

Laurey Williams- A young woman who lives with her Aunt Eller on a farm. Although she is in love with Curly, she will not admit her feelings. (Soprano, Dancer)

Ado Annie Carnes- The boy-crazy daughter of farmer Andrew Carnes. Although she loves Will, she is easily wooed by any man who gives her attention. (Soprano/Alto, Dancer)

Will Parker- A skilled (but not too bright) cowboy. He wants to marry Ado Annie despite her father's disapproval. (Tenor, Dancer)

Aunt Eller- Laurey's aunt and mother figure to everyone in town. She takes care of her farm with Laurey and hired-hand, Jud Fry. She sees the good in everybody. (Mezzo)

Jud Fry- The menacing hired-hand on Aunt Eller's farm. He lives in the smokehouse and does not fit in with the others in town. He has strong feelings for Laurey and won't let others get in his way. (Baritone)

Ali Hakim- A traveling salesman who claims he's from Persia, although the things he says may or may not be true. He is an outsider in the town, but is generally well-liked. He is flirtatious with Ado Annie and the other women, which gets him into trouble sometimes. (Baritone)

Andrew Carnes- The overly-protective father of Ado Annie and a successful farmer. He is skeptical of cowboys and dislikes Will in particular due to his interest in Ado Annie. (Tenor/Baritone)

Gertie Cummings- A pretty girl from the next town over who takes a liking to Curly. She is known for her laugh.

Dream Ballet Curly- Ballet dancer in Laurey's dream. (Dancer)

Dream Ballet Laurey- Ballet dancer in Laurey's dream. (Dancer)

Ensemble Characters- Ike Skidmore, Sherriff Cord Elam, Jess, Chalmers, Mike, Joe, Sam, Fred, Slim, Ellen, Kate, Sylvia, Armina, Aggie

Ensemble- Farmers, Cowboys, Women, and Children
